Joint event held with FC Willy Wacker Hechtsheim
On November 1, 2025, FC BASARA Mainz held a joint event with 1. FC Willy Wacker Hechtsheim, also based in Mainz-Hechtsheim. The event started with a soccer class for children in the Willy Wacker development age group, led by head coach Shinji Okazaki and his coaches. The children worked hard with smiles on their faces and seemed to be having a great time. Next, the children from Düsseldorf and the children from Willy Wacker tried their hand at making rice balls together. This program was carried out with the cooperation of Yoko Izumida, who always provides food support after the matches, and it was a wonderful time for them to enjoy experiencing Japanese culture. Before the match, Willy Wacker's children entered the stadium as escort kids alongside the FC BASARA Mainz players, creating a warm atmosphere in the stadium. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and cooperated in this event, and to everyone at Willy Wacker for their warm welcome. On November 1, 2025, just before the 14th league match, FC BASARA Mainz welcomed Mainz Athletics to their home ground for a kick-off ceremony. In July of this season, we were invited to a home game of Mainz Athletics, where manager Shinji Okazaki threw the first pitch, providing an opportunity to deepen exchanges between the two clubs. Although soccer and baseball are different sports, as sports clubs based in Mainz, we hope to continue to expand opportunities for exchange and collaboration through community-based activities. The students aim to propose important insights for the future development of regional amateur football clubs, focusing on the club's unique project concept, international diversity, and community-driven structure. On September 20 and October 4, 2025, we held an "Onigiri Workshop Event" at our home games with the cooperation of Chef☆Kids. The purpose of this event was for children living in Germany to experience making, eating, and enjoying "onigiri" (rice balls), which is one aspect of Japanese culture, and also to provide the onigiri made by the children to the players as a post-game snack. On both days, many children exceeding the capacity participated, and the venue was filled with smiles and energy. The children happily challenged themselves to make onigiri, and the players seemed to enjoy the onigiri they received. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Chef☆Kids and all the other parties involved for their cooperation in holding this event.
